Getting Started

I'm working on several knitting projects right now. I'm making a blanket for Makayla (my newest niece), a pair of socks for Devon, and a pair of socks for Spence (currently on a 6-month deployment).

The blanket I'm making with DreamBaby, an incredibly soft microfiber yarn in variegated lavender/pink/yellow. It's a *beautiful* yarn. I'm incorporating a lace-edged pattern with a willow tree pattern and am curious to see how it turns out. The socks for Devon I'm making with Regia "Clown" sock yarn. I already did a pair for Aisling (her daughter) and am making a pair to match for Devon.

The socks for Spence are with Regia sock yarn, toe-up method. I cast on with 20 on 2 needles, divided between 4 needles, increased to 68 stitches, and knit 68 rows before turning heel. Now I'm starting on the other sock. One ball of yarn knits two socks, and I want to make sure I divide the yarn evenly between the two socks. To me, the easiest way to do that is to knit one sock from the inside of the skein to the point where I've turned the heel, put the sock on stitch holders, knit the other sock from the outside of the skein, and then go back and forth while working the ankles to make sure the socks are even.

This entry is primarily so I can remember the numbers from the first sock for the second sock :)
