I have been unable to attain the appropriate gauge for my Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran, so I decided to just do a basic sweater in the gauge that works best for me. Partway through the back (which is the first piece I started), I dropped the project in favor of some Regia socks. I was just missing the rhythmic knitting of socks on dpns, watching the patterns of the Regia unfold. I have too many things undone...the sweater for Spence, the socks for me, 2 Colinette throws for the house. It just depends on my mood which I feel like working with.
Besides which, I'm distracted by our remodeling projects. Fixing up this house is a blast. Spence is a fantastic builder/carpenter/electrician/jack-of-all-trades, as I suspected he would be. I'm frustrated by the limitations of my pregnancy, as I suspected I would be. Still, it's fun to plan the colors of the rooms and we've begun painting the living room. Spence is almost finished building one of the closets upstairs and built an awesome faux beam around some exposed supports in the living room. He's done a million other little projects besides. He's so cool.
This house is like one huge palette upon which we spin our designs. We plan together, we create together, and then we apply our separate talents and marvelous things come into being.
It's one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. We think that after we leave the Navy (hurrah!) and build our house, we'll probably continue to buy little houses and fix them up, just for the fun of it.
